Contemporary Landscape Painter based in Melbourne (Naarm).
Waves pound and crack. Water hisses on stone. The air is alive with the energy of the ocean. A heron skims low. The rocks withstand the onslaught.
Sarah works en plein air, immersed in the landscape she paints. Her works have the land and sea in their DNA; some are salted with sea spray or mountain mists, others she paints with an earth ground, hand making the paint from local rocks and deliberately allowing the warm bronze tones to peek out between other colours like the exposed red gold soils of Australia. Exploring themes of endurance and fragility, stillness and movement, Sarah’s work pays respect to the power and beauty of wild spaces.
I acknowledge the Bunurong people, who are the Traditional owners and Custodians of the land on which I live, work and paint, and pay my respects to their Elders, both past and present.
